Hi,

i looking for a linear PSU for 30V-10A with discret parts and a pre-regulator like triac for the primary transformer.
Have you anything to propose for start?
I think to use PIC16F8XX for drive it.
Thanks to help me.

regards.

linear power supply preregulator

Here is a concept of adjustable linear power supply based on descrite components and 723 voltage regulator:
**broken link removed**
For 30V output you will need to ensure that the unregulated voltage is >35Vdc and, of course, change th values of resistors around the potentiometer ..

Pre-regulation can be added to the above project and there are several options here but thy can be discussed on another occasion ..

723 linear power supply

Hi IanP,

thanks for your answer but i don't want to use 723 for this project.
I want to use only O.A and try to control voltage and current by µC.
The pre reg is necessary and i have already study a system with triacs and opto isolator with feedback around the ballast.
Have you some papers about toroid transformer calculations?
Methodology of calculations or paper about choices to make?
Thanks by advance.
regards.

adjustable linear power supplies

Hi Donald,

Here is an example of pre-regulation using discrete parts; you have to boost the circuit for a 10A output. The circuit is dimensioned for 25V and 2.5A; the control part can be modified to eliminate the op-amp if you like.

Re: LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

Hi Donald,
I'm also workink on the project of a good bench PSU.
I try to design a triac pre-regulator on the primary of the main transformer.
Do you have any infos ? It will be a great help !
Thanks & regards,
