lna design tutorial

LNA design tutorial help required

Starting s e r e n a d e 8 & creating a new project.
Selects NE68133 with 2.5V 3ma bias condition s2p file.
Loading the device in schematics.
Then selecting microwave port for input & output.
Just writing p1 & p2 in properties window & loading into schematics.
Then connected microwave ports with the BJT with the help of wire simbol.
Then put the earth symbol to emitter of the BJT.
Then selected f ( Linear frequency ) symbol & put the following in the freq. chart.
step 500Mhz 2Ghz 20Mhz
step 800Mhz 879Mhz 1Mhz
After this i selected linear symbol button & pressed analysis button.
i got analysis error.
At the bottom i got the message :
sch2mh: warning: required property "Freq" not supplied in symbol "mhfreq1n#7"
sch2mh: warning:
\\trial\mhfreq1n#7I Required property not specified : Freq

Here i hv got one file of designing LNA design with serenade, hence want to know how they hv done it. Then how they get smithchart window as in fig.2.
I hv put my schematics in the output file as mentioned in the MWJ.05.98 LNA design file fig. 1. I just want to repeat the process of LNA design ( small signal) as done in the file & understand the simulation with serenade.
Pl. pin point my mistake as i am newbie & hv no experince.

lnadesign tutorial

surprised to see that there is no reply.

I checked it with my friend using serenade.
In the frequency setting box "freq"u hv not entered the the frequencies. Just enter
STEP 500MHz 2GHz 20 Mhz . it will be ok.

u can use other tools ,like MWO , ansoft designer , or ADS

khouly

Khouly,
In the discussion about simulators, i got the impression that serenade is simple. The ansoft designer is just new version of serenade. Hence when got serenade to use, i am trying with it.
After going ahead in the project when designing input matching, i got the the input matching perfectly. Now i will check output matching.
Thanks for all the help

if you use ADS, it has a guide wizard to design amplifier, oscillator, PLL, ....
