I would like to know where I can find information about networks and the utillites available for cross platform(Linux & Windows) software design. Seeing as I am trying to design a server client based application. I would also like to know what the best programming language would be for this kind of application. :?:

Please, be more specific, what is your host platform?, your software will have a GUI?, what platform for the server and what for the client?.

Have a look at Advanced Network programing by Richard Stevens.

You will find a lot of useful info about linux in www.tldp.org

Regards

Mauro

hi
i see that JAVA is a very good language for such applications, it contains a lot of utilities and classes for networking and security and it is vey simple to use.
in addition that it works in both windows and linux (write once run everywere)
