Whether the computer is running Windows or Linux has no effect on the type of RAM card it uses.
But you need to determine specifically what type of RAM module your computer uses to replace the faulty module.

Hello,

Solaris is not Linux but Unix. There were versions of Solaris for Sparc CPU (made by Sun) and generally all hardware for such version had been different comparing with PC computer (with Intel CPU). But there were also version for Intel x86 architecture - in such case hardware should be like normal PC computer.

Best Regards
