Hello,

I'm new here and i'm beginner in electronic circuits, I would like to ask if anyone can help me in this small circuit.
I would like to do blinking led (fade in and blink out).
I saw some videos on youtube and i found one perfect:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdLoH74s4uY
I bought components which he used (1x 1k variable resistor, 1x 2N3904 transistor, 1x 1200uf Cap)
After making circuit on prototype board i saw it only blinks. (I guess he got a bad camera sensor that made fade in effect)
I would like to make fade in if is possible.

And i measure voltage at 2N3904 transistor i get out 2.2V when is in 12V, how could I make to get out 12v that i can power led strip.

Thank you for any answers !

Congratulations on getting the Esaki effect to work. This appears to be one of those unusual circuits, which causes you to have to stick to it until all adjustments are just right.

I would like to make fade in if is possible.

To do this you must change the duty cycle. According to another video, it blinks faster as you increase supply voltage. However that does not necessarily change the duty cycle of the flashes.

Fading is to make the led brighter and dimmer. This has to do with duty cycle. The Esaki oscillator may allow a certain range where you can do so. Try playing with resistor values (although you must avoid causing overmuch current, either from the supply or through the led).

how could I make to get out 12v that i can power led strip.

Evidently the transistor needs a certain voltage in order for the Esaki effect to work. Start by adding a second led. See what happens. Play with values if necessary. Add a third led. Etc.

I looked up the video and the reference cited, http://cappels.org/dproj/simplest_LED_flasher/Simplest_LED_Flasher_Circuit.html

The scope traces (see the link above) suggest that the current decays exponentially (for some time, perhaps little time to be clearly seen) and that will correspond to dimming (fade out). It is not clear how to make the LED fade in (slowly come to life).

I do not know whether this will work in a simulation but certainly you can try with different capacitors and resistors combinations to extend the fade out. That too is good looking!!!
