Learning the APP decoder

Hello all,

I want to learn the algorithm behind APP decoder so that I can implement it in Matlab. I don't want to use the built in functions


If anyone has knowledge about APP decoder then please guide me through basics or if you have a good resource please inform me.

I'll be using the APP decoder for IDMA
