hi,

What do you mean by leaded and lead-free chip/?
what is the difference between them.?
which is better?
Are both available now.?

cheers!

I think that "leaded" is a component where internally you can find "lead" yet.
Instead "lead free" is a component where there is any "lead".

Of course it is better to take a "lead free" component because the new directives "RoHS" (Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances) and "WEEE" (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) don't allow to use "leaded" component in many electronic devices (but not all).

Only recently "lead free" components are available, before there was exclusively leaded ones.

For more informations I suggest this internet address: https://www.pb-free.info/

"Lead Free" is a complicate technology. manfacture a "lead free" product, using lead free parts only doesn't make sense. the pcb, the soldering process even the cables and enclosures must be lead free too.

I think you can find more specification and information from internet such as google about Pb and Pb-free, this is about material, mfg and ect...

Yes ,lead is the chemical name ,in fact lead is harmful for the human being .so with the developemtn ,the human will use the lead free material instead of the lead material .because it's consistent with the electronic line requirment .if you still have some problem unclearly ,pls email:
