Very first thing, plasma tvs are not having poorer contrast ratio. In-fact they have best contrast ratio compared to led & lcd tvs.
Because of high contrast ratio they give the best image compared to lcd & led.
But the display panel tends to loose its brightness with time (some years).
However when it comes to power usage, they eat up the max power compared to lcd & led.

Contrast ratio:
Best: Plasma.
Worst: LCD

Power Usage:
Best: LED
Worst: Plasma

Display Brightness:
Best: LED tv
Worst: Plasma tv

Display panel thickness:
Best: LED tv
Worst: Plasma tv

Panel Life:
Best: LED
Worst: Plasma

Viewing Experience (Indoor's, where room is not much illminated)
Best: Plasma
Viewing Experience (When room is brightly illuminated)
Best: LED tv
Worst: Plasma

Finally,
Cost:
Best: Plasma (cheaper compared to led & lcd for similar hardware specification)
Worst: LED (most costly compared to ldc & plasma)

Hope, this will be helpful to u.
