laptop charger capacitor replacement with lower capacitance

Hi all,

I'm just new here trying to get help from you guys, any help would be much appreciated. first of all thank you. I'm not an electronics guy but i have a charger with a broken capacitor rated at (400v @ 120uf) and has been replaced with (400v @ 100uf) at our local repair shop... is it ok to replace this kind of capacitor? i'm scared that it'll blow up since capacitor blows and it's not the same that the broken one. btw, my laptop charger is

Make: LITEON AC ADAPTER
Model: PA-1650-02
Input: 100-240v ~1.6A 50-60hz
Output: 19V === 3.42A

You are pretty close in value, so I wouldn't be concerned. The change in capacitance may decrease the regulator's DC output ripple performance, or give you a little less immunity to noise on the power line, but it shouldn't be detrimental in normal situations. As far as catastrophic failure of the cap, that would likely be an effect of having over voltage on the part (they were both 400V parts, so no problem).
