i have a few l298 lying around, and i want to implement microstepping with them.
they have a "sense" pin, commoned the sinking transistors. i don't want to use that - because it will add a series resistance with my stepping motor.

is it ok if i ground the pins?

also, how exactly is the "load sensing" supposed to be used? there's a complimentary chip, l297 that uses those, but i don't want to use that, i want to make my own microstepping (yes, i know there are microstepping ics out there)

any help?
thanks.
