Hello,
I am looking to do a project where I create a jukebox style device, and need some help with the electronics aspect! My idea is to have a circuit where a specific button is pressed and a certain song is played, and there are say 5-10 buttons and each one plays a different song. It should be connected to a speaker and have a volume control ideally also.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could go about this in terms of the electronics? I’m a novice to this sort of thing too so if it’s possible, not too complex would be great!
Thanks

Hi Fred125,

To be quite honest with you, and I'm genuinely sorry about it, "not too complex" is just not possible with your requirements. To give my interpretation, to make it as simple as possible you would need: something like an Arduino or alternatively a Raspbery Pi style device to accomplish this, with some experience of writing code.

Hopefully some-one else can come up with a suggested solution/plan of action.

Hi d123,
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my question. I have had a look on the internet for devices that might work as you have suggested and came across this:

Do you think this is the sort of device I am looking for?

LilyPad is the sort of Mp3 player you require.
You can straight away use Lilypad for playing 5 songs. But the choice of the 5 song titles is fixed. You have to code the selected 5 songs in the SDRam.

The datasheet for the audio amplifier in the Lilypad MP3 player shows that when its battery is 3.6V then its output power into 8 ohm speakers when it begins clipping distortion is a whopping 1W per channel that is not much. Its battery voltage will drop to 3.2V then the output power will be much less. Its Lithium battery will be destroyed if it discharges to less than 3.2V but the circuit does not prevent it.

Hi,

That's a good find, I agree that the Lilypad is a good choice for the jukebox project.
