[SOLVED] JHD162A problem, LCD doesn't display anything.

Does mikroC LCD Library work with JHD162A LCD. I am trying to display some text on JHD162A lcd using mikroC 4 bit lcd library and the lcd doesn't disply any thing. If anybody hace working C Code for JHD162A LCD please post it.

The JHD162A utilizes an HD44780 compatible controller, therefore it should be compatible with the mikroC 16x2 LCD library routines.

Perhaps the unit is damaged or there is a variation on the pinout. You can test the LCD using the step in the following blog:

You can try the circuit on the lcd1.pdf to make sur that tje Lcd will display something.

Thank you. It is the exact LCD I am having. I checked the connections 10 times and everything is ok but LCD doesn't display anything. The project also has UART code and is working. I confirmed that by using a led to turn on if valid data is received. I am posting the code. Please somebody test it with JHD162A lcd and tell me if the code is working.

I have connected VDd to +5V and Vss to ground and LED+ to +5V and LED- to GND. backlight is turning ON but LCD doesn't display anything. I am using a 9V Duracell and 7805 regulator to get 5V supply.

I am attaching the exact circuit I am using. D0 to D4 is connected to GND.

Edit: Problem Solved. The LCD was damaged. I replaced the LCD and everything works fine.
