It is a simple design of J-pole antenna for short-waves which can be performed even by a beginner. The main assumption of this project was to create the omnidirectional, not directional antenna and thus the construction is specific for this kind of antenna. The main load-bearing element of the antenna is aluminum pipe with a diameter of 3,5cm. The emitter was made of aluminum rod with a diameter of 8mm which was removed from an old TV dipole from a multi-element antenna Yagi-Uda. To connect a hot wire of the power cord, the device uses a band bolted on the different types of rubber hoses in cars. A cable is soldered to that band. All connections (emitter to the pipe and screws) were smeared with acid free Vaseline, to protect the connections against corrosion.

The entire device was placed on a metal roof, but it does not have a negative impact on the communication through this antenna. It is connected to TRX via an antenna cable which is about 21m long. Tuning is very simple. Once tuned, you can talk with another person from a distance of about 15km!
