Issue while programming

Merry christmas to everyone.

I am using Emp-30 to program a PLD part number ATF16V8BQ which is from Atmel.

I am facing below error while selecting a devices.

Device algorithm Atmel ATF16V8BQ failed to initialise.

Can you please help me to understand how to resolve this.

Seeing that you posted the same question on other forums and didn't get an answer - I suggest contacting Atmel directly.

Atmel PLDS aren't exactly mainstream devices...
Just out of interest - how old is the board?

What does this exactly mean?
- A software problem happening no matter if the 16V8 part is inserted or not?
- A problem in accessing the 16V8 chip?

In the former case the problem has to be solved by the EMP-30 support, in the latter case it depends. May be a defective 16V8, defective programmer or a software problem.

The problem is while selecting a part number. The next step after selecting a part number is to choose program file. But the problem is with part number selection then I am not able to go ahead and select the program.
