isp using max232 and at89v51

can we use max232 and at89v51 to build an isp?

Thanks for your clear explanation . Thats why people use phillips at89v51 chip. It contains a bootloader embedded inside it by phillips itself. So just hook up the at89v51 to max232 and thats it!


so is it like this that all i need to do is connect rs232 com port of my computer to max 232 then to at89v51??? and then i can load my program into 8051??:thinker:
 

Yes,
If the controller - like written -has a bootloader inside.
And you need a pc and a software to talk the bootloader protocol.

And power supply, clock source, and all what is necessary to run a controller..
