Just curious, do you guys think that this touch switch circuit could be approved for safety (UL or eq.)?
I thought that the only circuits that could be directly connected to the mains are the ones a user cannot access (in a plastic enclosure or something else)...
The circuit has 4.4 Megohms between the touch switch and the mains. This could put a mA or so through a body. I would not risk it. Can you put a plastic film over the touch switch?
[edited part: I did a math error. the 4.4 Megohms and the line voltage is in the uA range as calculated in the posts below.]
An old tester is nothing but glow bulb in series with resistor mounted in screwdriver made of insulating material. When connected to liwe wire and other end is touched by hand glow bulb lights.
