Does every remote control of the TV is using infra-red?
 

Most of them are IR, yes. A few high-end remote manufacturers use Bluetooth, but these are so rare it is very unlikely that yours is. A good way to test is to take a standard phone camera or other cheap camera, look at the front of the remote through it, and press a button on the remote. You should see a purple-ish light blinking.
 

In older days, some TV remote controls used ultra sonic.
