Is this a capacitor?

When I was moving my treadmill the case fell off and something fell on the circuit board and broke this mystery object. I'm just a do it yourselfer that's in need of some help, what is this item and where can I buy a new one. Is there any way to attach a picture to this see you guys know what I'm talking about?

No, forum rules require that images and other attachments are uploaded directly to Edaboard because links to file sharing servers are often expiring after some time, making the post useless. You can use the "Insert Image" button to upload an image with your post.

The component is a capacitor:
1500 microfarads
200V
The bars indicate the negative terminal.

A terminal is knocked off. Its case has been dented, putting a hole in it. A replacement will cost a few dollars.

Yes this is a capacitor, 1500uF 200V and importantly 105 degrees centigrade.
You may have trouble finding a replacement. It may be posible to solder a connection to the broken terminal.

Radio Shack's catalog doesn't carry that high a voltage. However if your local Radio Shack store is independently owned, they may carry a generic replacement.

I did try to solder the broken terminal back on with no luck. If and when I can find a replacement does it matter the orientation that it is reattached to the board? I forgot to take note what terminal went it each spot on the board. Also I would rather purchase this online for convenience, do you have a recommended site?

Yes the orientation is very important, expect a big bang if you get it wrong.

Post a picture of the printed circuit board top and bottom view and we can probably figure out how the capacitor should go in.

Wouldn't those capacitors be keyed some how so that you can only snap it into the holder one way?

No. Some types are, this isn't.

But there should be a clear polarity marking in the silkscreen print on the board, e.g. a "+"-sign.
