same ethernet address

For one computer with different operating system, for example win2000 and linux, is the ethernet address same observed in win2000 and linux?

MAC-Address

Hi, when you mean the MAC-Address form your NIC, then it is everytime the same. It is a hardware Address that don't change under different OS.

Phytex

Yes,it is the same. You can use:
lmutil lmhostid
to verify it in Win and Linux.

MAC address is embaded in to the chip at the time of factory testing, it is like serial number for your harddisk.
you can change the MAC Address in reg, no need to change it in the card itself.
