Surface Acoustic Wave: A sound wave that propagates along the surface of a solid and is contained within the solid. SAW devices typically combine compressional and shear components. In Wireless applications, SAW refers to a Surface Acoustic Wave band-pass filter, which exhibits much better out-of-band rejection, but has higher passband ripple and insertion loss.
