Interleaved boost converter

Hello,

about 18 months ago, i was in a LED car headlight company.

They were making 40W LED car headlights .

The idea was to use an interleaved boost converter....(2 boost stages switching out of phase into a single output)

-the advantage was that you did not need a heatsink for any FET or diode, even though it was 40W output power.

Do you know if the interleaved boost got used for this purpose, in the end?
