Interfacing a camera(any type) and want to send the images of camera to my laptop

guys i need help regarding an idea i want to use a camera with micro controller so that i can use its images for further purposes.I dont know how to save the image of the camera in digital format......a lot of thnxxxxxxxx in advance.. :grin::grin::grin::roll::roll::roll::roll:
 

Use VLC, it allows to record a stream, capture pictures and many other functions. And more of all it's free.

Can your camera connect by USB to a computer? This is common with digital cameras.

I have seen people talk about using a microcontroller with USB as well.
