Microcontrollers are everywhere nowadays.
Adidas has just made the first intelligent running shoe, with built-in sensor, microcontroller and motor.
The shoe is called 'Adidas 1'.

During the early days of microprocessors I had a joke idea of a microprocessor controlled tooth brush. Some years later there were such things.
 

Next thing will be shoes with build in GPS, which can find the right way home and steer and run for you.
