Hi Guys

My name is Royan, Am currently looking for individuals who would like to come together to form a group for a specific project that I am workinmg upon. the project involves re-writing standardized approach to studying/understanding of elementary electronics. This is a project that I have embarked upon for very personal reasons however come to have realise that a very large DIY community would be helped. for further details on the project please reply back to this thread itself

Currently am only looking at individuals with a strong background in Electronics & who can add valuable inputs to what we are attempting to prepare

Hello there,

That is interesting. Could you give more information about that? In other words what you want is to give another kind of approach to the elementary electronics compared to those in books of basic electronics?

Best regards.

What revolutionary you have in mind what we dont have now ?

EDABoard forum is right place for problems, questions, publishing and presenting own projects, ..... and what is more important for learning.

thanks for responding to the thread

I think there is a possibilty of a much better & simplistic approach to learning this science. unfortunately I myself have not studied in this field however I took a lot fo time to understand it & realised a much simpler method could be possible. like every science electronics also works on certain base principals & logic. I just have a concept in mind... let me remind I might be wrong all together however I wish to have a go at it any ways... better a fool by failure than be a fool by just standing on the side

I do not have a background in EE, but I have a strong general interest in alternative teaching methods, communication, and social science.

I agree with tpetar - this forum (among others) is a strong collection of experienced individuals who can share their own approaches with others, and a community such as this one can provide answers tailored to fit the learner's needs in a way that least-common-denominator classrooms and texts sometimes can't (take this very thread, for example). Still, I am curious about what you have in mind.

@ jasonc2 - yes this forum is definately a place where I can find answers to "a" specific project or even help me in building a project right from ground up. I can always use "your" idea to create something for myself but that will only limit my learning to that specific project & despite that I am sure that many aspect of it would be totally lost on me especially when I am not an EE at all. the idea that I have in mind would help an individuals with no EE background to understand why his/her project needs elements such a capacitor/resistor etc & what are its requirement/functions /role in that specific location.... lets say for e.g. I wish to make a TV remote & i only wanted the remote to carry out the task of switch off & switch on..... to start off with the remote basically relays a message to the TV to switch off or turn on. I could relay such a message to teh end device using a LED/light, RF, Bluetooth, sound etc as long as both ends have a way of understanding the each other. lets say I decide to build a device that could communicate through IR. in teh TV remote that I wish to build I would have to look at the following aspects, 1) Message to be delivered & 2) channel through which to be delivered *(message-ON/OFF, Channel-IR). if using IR I would need two things 1, power source controller for the IR element, & a controller that could control the IR to act exactly the way I need it to. with regards to power source I need to know the amount of power required for the operation for the IR, with regards to the controller I would need to know the type of controller & again power source.

so this is how I was hoping to go about doing a break down of a device & doing the explanation... I wish to then add certain tools that could then help the end user to run caculations etc

I am sure you guys wud have something much better that what I have expressed in here... so please add to this thread on whatever u feel about it

- - - Updated - - -

My idea basically is to break down an device in 2 several main components & then breaking them down further in to sub componets. a device that can deliver/carryout the same task can be build in many different ways using many different concepts. by my method I wish one to understand why someone else had a different approach compared to someone else or himself

leaving for the day... wil check the thread tomorrow guys

...better a fool by failure than be a fool by just standing on the side...

All depends who driving a car, and if car go to cliff then is better be on side. 😄

Like you mention in your posts about basic elementary question such is resistors, capacitor and similar things, and IR, WiFi,... visitors of EDABoard forum have thread groups which are dedicated to this problematics. They post their problem or needs and others give possible solutions and ideas for that. Some new member with small knowledge in electronics can post some question based on his thinking, and he is not even aware that he may have given the good solution for some question or problem in other threads/posts.

If forum is open such is EDABoard, more people can give their ideas for something, and if group of people are closed, then solutions can be harder achieved with more investment of time and testing, maybe with some lack in design.

Just see one very well posted example what people ask and want to do :
https://www.edaboard.com/threads/261935/

You can also create new thread with your question-problem, and wait others EDABoard users join to your thread with their posts. There is possibility that no one answer it, but that is open forum. There is no users obligation to give answers on other users questions. This can be achieved with money, this is case in almost entire world on this planet, many people works on their jobs, they have obligations to to something and for that they receive their money income. You can start your own business and hire people. 😄

Are you from China maybe ? 😄

Yes its one and good way for learning lots of practical solution for some problems. We learning whole life, even in schools on other examples and solutions of other peoples, because there is many peoples there is many solutions and ideas. When knowledge is accumulated people should pretend to make yours authentic design, or they can use existing idea, but when people trying to make new design then some improvements can be achieved. If you just want to clone some device ok for that particular model, but what will be with next model ? Todays markets wants continuous improvements of designs and ideas, new models,.... for that you need to be you, not just some copier.

You can create group on EDABoard and invite some people to join. That group can be specialised for something what you want. You can see my group located here You can also make your group blog or some article.

😉

hi guys

am aware that I can find answers to a "specific" problem in this forum but however my idea is to improve awareness & understanding in general about electrionics....

guys, I think I might just go ahead with my idea while approaching u guys for any assistance

thanks for responding to the thread

So you have not studied electronics youself, but have realised that a much simpler method of understanding could be possible. Perhaps you can explain how you conclude that. You have not provided any substance to support your view. You have not discussed how you believe this simpler method will work.

Conventional methods all indicate that to understand electronics in any depth, one needs to know quite a bit of maths, which requires quite a bit of study. How does your proposed method get around that?

To be honest, I don't think you are really in a position to propose a simpler and better approach, when you admit you admit you have not studied it yourself. It is a bit like me saying there is better method of brain surgery, when I know nothing about the topic.

yes I dont know about electronics nor do I know about brain surgery but one this I do know is that the basic fundamental approach in most aspects to creating something does not really change much. my idea was basically to list the objective that I wish to achive & then fix on an approach to achiveing that objective... lets say as I mentioned above my objective for instance was to switch off/Turn on TV. i would create only an ON/OFF switch & place it between the power source & the device hwoever if that objective also included doining teh task remotely I would have to add 2 more elements apart from a switch one is a processor that does the intelligent job keeping in mind what the user wants to do & a 2nd element i.e. IR that relays the task to the end device. I further subdivide into each of my elements by looking at their requirements & how I can fit them into the said device for them to work in harmony with each other & so on & so forth... I agree I do not sound technical no do I sound intelligent while saying all this however I believe an approach such as this will really help in make someone understand the "how" & "why" in a device or project

you can count us all in when it comes to solving problems

when in trouble post your query and you will find a million minds working in million different aspects that can really bring out a result to the greatest surprise of the questioner

all the best with your work
