Hello,

Can anyone help please?

I would like to know the linear speed of a conveyor powered by an engine connected to an incremental encoder. The encoder is plugged into an oscillo which shows a period of 100 microseconds.

What is the formula for speed calculation using an incremental encoder?.

The encoder diameter is 20mm and with 500 pulses.

Thanking in advance for your help.

You have to convert the rotation speed at 20mm diam to linear speed. So if your encoder does one turn (500 pulses) its perifery will have moved the belt pi X 20mm ~ 62.8mm. In one second you have counted 10,000 pulses, so 10,000/500 revolutions or 20, so the belt has moved 20X 62.8 = 125.6mm.

hi
I'm using an encoder which can give 80 to 2048 pulses per revolution,
and has A,B & Z signals
how to find the velocity of it.
