mux implementation

Implement a two input and gate using 2-1 mux ???

pls help in this regard..................

Re: mux implementation

HI
its very easy
but why would you want to do it?

It's a 2 X 1 mux so has only one selection bit. It has two inputs, call them I0 and I1. Lets call the selection pin S0. Connect I0 to the selection bit. It will be easier if you write it down in paper. Now, analyse it this way:

When I0=0 and I1=0, selection pin S0=0. Thus output=0.

When I0=0 and I1=1, selection pin S0=0. Thus output=0.

When I0=1 and I1=0, selection pin S0=1. Thus output=0.

When I0=1 and I1=1, selection pin S0=1. Thus output=1.
Hence it is an AND gate.

Note that if you connect I1 to selection bit, it becomes an OR gate.

Please let me know if this helps you. Feel free to contact me any time if you need any more help.
