Image segmentation-fixed algorithm for choosing seed points

hello all,
i am working on Image Segmentation using region growing. I wanted to know a fixed algorithm for choosing seed points in region growing method . I had refered books but i am not getting any . It will be very helpful if you gave a reply .

if you explain more details about your work, maybe i can help u. (there is not a fixed algorithm to find seeds, it depends on your problem!)

Sorry for late reply ... i wanted automatic seed selection for segmenting medical images via detecting edge first using histogram based edge detection.
