ifft in bandpass spectrum "

i want to take the ifft of a spectrum whose value is known in some bandpass range(5-10 GHz).
I have taken the fftshift and the trying to implement some windowing technique then performing ifft using matlab but results are irregular.
anyone please suggest how to do it.
