IC Station and Virtuoso? Which is better??
In my opinion, i see that Mentor IC Station provides many helpful and speeding-up features specially in analog layout and matching..

I hope that experienced ppl, kindly share their valuable experience to compare between them both, either in features, design speed, etc.

Also, can IC station be integrated within Cadence flow? e.g. can someone draw schematic using Virtuoso schematic composer, and do layout using IC station?

Thank you for participation,

Kind Regards,
Ahmad,

In my opinion IC STATION is very good than Virtuoso in many cases..
1. In Virtuoso we ve to include the model file library during each simulation for the same design...but in IC Station for 1 design its sufficient to include the path only once..
2. In Virtuoso there r some constraints in chosing aspect ratio of MOS..but in IC Station there is no restiction...
3. IC Station is easy to understand than Virtuoso..
4. while doing simulation in Virtuoso we ve to include the delay for signal to avoid the fatal error....its not the case with IC Station.
5. In IC station from the log file we can find region of operation, all MOS parameters...whatever u need.........its not possible vit Virtuoso i think..
6. also in IC Station we can vary aspect ratio..any qty w/o much difficult..as in Virtuoso....
Acc to me Ic station is vgud than Virtuoso...........
.................................................................srini.

In Virtuoso there r some constraints in chosing aspect ratio of MOS..but in IC Station there is no restiction...

I think this is a design kit issue not related to Virtuoso or IC Station

i think in terms of doing the layout job done I would prefer using VXL than IC Station because I remember few years back I work with a mutiple IC Design tools there are some limitation to all these IC Tools....but in terms of verification I would prefer Calibre(mentor) compare to Assura.

i tried both , i think they dont differs much , but looking at a layout in virtuso better than looking at it in ic station , i prefer cadence in everything , in cadence 6 ; the features in virtuso are amazing and i think it will take much time for ic station to reach something similar :) , also, some of my collagaeus have the same opinion , they prefer virtuso

one more thing sometimes it's not about just the functionality of the IC tools...also it depends on the customer service...eventhough you have an excellent but poor CS...the company doesn't like it.

user friendly, point to point net router, we can generate layout directly from schematic
