Hello, I am trying to do a layout in Cadence and I would appreciate any information on these IBM design kits (9SF / 9LP / 9RF). Has anyone used any of them before? Is it easy to install? Is it compatible with MOSIS? Thanks!
i use cmrf8sf 130nm, it is a very good kit. the structure gets tricky once updates are installed and you should be careful about the paths defined in .cdsinit, .cdsenv and cds.lib to ensure you are using the latest version of the kit.
oermens: Is the library structured like GPDK or NCSU, in which all cells are organized in hierarchy (each cell has its own folder, and each view of each cell has its own folder) The reason why I ask this is because I had another library, in which the layout are stored in .gsd2 file and I don't know how to deal with that
psmon: all I really need are nmos, pmos, poly, metal1-3, n-well, p-sub, and vias/contacts that connect these layers. Do you know if those IBM libraries from MOSIS will be enough?
i've never used gpdk or ncsu, only tsmc and ibm, but the description you gave is that of the kits i've used (cell->cellview). ibm has layout pcells so you can go directly from schematic to layout using virtuoso-xl, and if you want, ic craftsman.
