I have selected phototransistor and a suitable LED. They work at 940nm.
How do I build. I don't even know how to test the Phototransistor
I can upload the datasheets.

Could you give more details of your requirements? What distance range? Accuracy? Measurement speed?

Keith

The said distance sensor uses a special integrated optical device from Sharp rather than a simple LED and a phototransistor.
The latter are good for a reflective switch, but don't allow distance measurement.
