hello.

i am interested in building electromagnetic wave recorder, which would record part of spectrum to computer. so i am sure i need fast adc (125MSPS) to sample signals up to 60MHz, but i would like to sample frequencies up to 500MHz, without spending thousand of $ on GSPS ADC. however i have no knowledge of rf electronics and terms like QDS, DDS, downconvert, mixer, tuner, .... as until now i only worked with and designed digital circuits. i would be very grateful if somebody can provide me with some good links with explanation of above topics or even better, some books that deal with it.

also if someone might suggest design that might work, like how to downconvert frequencies above 60MHz down ... how to select frequency range ... it would be helpful too.

thank you very much.
