Hi All,

I am now designing a transmitter by ML2724 from microlinear. But output port of the chip is a balanced port. What I have is just lumped capacitors, inductors and a 50:50 balun. I wonder if there are any quick ways to transform the balanced port to 50Ohm unbalanced port? Any good articles on this problem?

Thanks.

PS: I am using HP8510C only. I don't have network analyzer with differential port.

You can use lumped Balun at 2.4GHz.

Rgrds,

Hi BigBoss,

I am using chip balun. But my question is that how to design the matching network between the IC output and the input of the balun??

I just find from simultion that the matching network can be designed by traditonal approach, with the unbalanced being monitored. I need verifying if it really work.

Hi mesfet ,

The differential impedance of the chip must be well defined . Then this impedance is divided by 2 and you will find single ended impedance. After that , you can match this divided single ended impedance to 25 Ohm!( because it is divided too )
Fianally you buil up a 50Ohm:50Ohm Balun with discrete components.

Look at your PM , I have sent a document to you.

Good Luck

Hi BigBoss

I have got the PM. Thanks!
