How to test opto-couplers ?

You can build a simple circuit - bias the led and measure the transistor when LED is ON and OFF. If it is an open or gapped opto-coupler you can even try to introduce an obstacle and to see how the output changes.

You can test it in circuit using the diode test feature on your DMM. Refer to the datasheet for connections.

Kindly, explain in detail. What would be the biasing voltage & how to bias the Led. How to measure the Transistor when LED is ON or OFF ?

What to measure & with what ?

thanks
