I wish to test mixer at S band how can i determine that it work satisfactorily what necessrary devices i must need to perform the test

Re: mixer testing

One option to test the mixer is to use a Network Analyzer that has option “mixer test” (it generates internally the LO signal).
If you do not have a NA you can use a Spectrum Analyzer and two RF generators, one for RF signal and one for LO.
For noise measurements you need at least a spectrum analyzer with noise meter option, and a noise source.
For linearity measurements (IP3, IP2, etc) you need more signal generators to generate at the RF input the intermods signals (e.g. two-tone test).

Re: mixer testing

Thanks Vfone ,
i am now testing it with spectrum Analyzer one signal gen and one fun generator available to me which is for low freq upto 80 Mhz.

i still cant achieve the desired o/p. the output after the mixing diode is LO and RF signal appearing separately on the spectrum analyzer with mag below 47-50dBm if if bypass the IF filter it appears to me if diode is not mixing.
