How to solve the corrupt data on a computer problem?

I have had alot of corrupt data on my computer... and i know that corrpution spreads until it crashes your computer... so to get rid of it i just go into command prompt and use the chkdsk command... but it keeps coming back.. like it goes away for a little while but comes back in a week or so... is the anytrhing else more i can to get rid of it?
