Dear Sir,
In FM/AM we can send Voice signals.
In the same way is there any possible to send/receive the text messages that will be shown on LCD.
I would like to decode the Morse code which will be send using AM.
I would like to do it without using any IC's.
So,kindly help me in this.

Thanks,
Kranthi.

Without using any ICs - can be done but you would be looking at a huge task. The Morse decoding alone would be a nightmare but trying to drive an LCD as well would be nearly impossible.

Brian.

The FM radio in my car shows the radio station's call letters, the type of music they broadcast, the name of the song that is playing and the singer's name on the digital screen. It does not use old fashioned Morse Code. Of course it uses ICs.

I rarely use the AM radio because the sound is very bad and I have not looked to see if it has digital information on the screen.

They are asking about decoding Morse code, not RDS !

AM doesn't normally carry text information except for DRM mode which is not only AM but stereo and carries HTML, including graphics. And it sounds reasonably good too!

Regardless of the mode and modulation, even managing to initialize and display text on an LCD without using ICs would be extremely difficult.

Morse code was done with smoke signals wasn't it? Puff, puff, puff, burnnn, burnnn, burnnn, puff, puff, puff.

So do it the same way.

Search for old issues of QST magazine, I saw there a MOrse code decoder long ago but I am afraid it used ICs, too.

Thank you .
