How to remove passivation layer over a chip by dry etching ??

Hey, I need to remove the passivation layer put over a chip by dry etching, without destroying the circuitry underneath it.
Is there a way to do so ?? If yes, can we selectively etch a portion of passivation or only complete removal is possible ??
