How to open a space on HDD for knopix in Win2000?

I have win2k on my pc. I want to open a space on my harddisk that knopix can use

Assuming you don't have a spare partition, you will need a tool like "Partition Magic" or "Paragon Partition Manager" to shrink your Win2K partition, making room for another primary partiton for knopix.

Search Google, you will find this has been talked about a *lot*.

You might even find a downloadable, trial version that will do the job.

knoppix boot on cd-rom. you don't need to install into hard disk

Do you mean knoppix?
Knoppix is a livecd linux ,it boot from cd and run in memory.It don't need hardware space .

Yeah, it's easy.You can mount the local disk in knoppix the same as in
other linux distros.

I recommend to create a partition which you can safely write to. I suggest FAT32, thats because NTFS partitions aren't well supported by LINUX.
