rs232 log with timestamp

I am receiving data from my chip to the computer through the UART communicaiton. I need to note down the timing between two transmission message. I am probing the Rx and TX lines on an oscilloscope, but i am unable to observe the transmission, whenever i send some activity on the bus. is there any way where i can monitor the output lines and calculate the time between two events based on PC time??

thanks
Bala

rs232 monitor time stamp

If you want to measure the timings over line only option is you need to use storage oscilloscope and calculate the timings from captured waveform.

Other option is to user serial port monitoring tools. Here you will get the log of transmitted and received data along with time stamp.
