I am doing 14 bits dac.
How do i measure SFDR?
If you know, can you tell me detail?
You can suggest me to read what kind of book or paper ?
Thank you.

Re: SFDR

You may need a high performance Spectrum analyzer.

Re: SFDR

I want to use matlab to simulate.
How do i do?
Thank you.

Re: SFDR

Matlab is just the behavioral modeling. I don't think it can simulate the SFDR.

Maybe you should simulate the SFDR in HSPICE.

Yibin.

Re: SFDR

If i use hspice, how to do ?
Can you tell me detail.
Because i do this first.
Thank you.

please check the related topic in this board, such as
"f I want to simulate the SFDR of a 8bit DAC"
or use search SFDR in this board, u will find many useful documents.

Re: SFDR

Actually, you first need to do the fft of the output. Then calculate the SFDR, that is the ratio of the signal and TOTAL sum of the noise.

Re: SFDR

Hi noiseless,

You mean it is SNR, right?
SFDR = signal power / largest spurious power

Re: SFDR

I want to simulate SFDR.I have a thought.I use hspice.
My inputs are digital signals and let output is a sine wave.
Then I do fft.I don't know that this idea is correct or incorrect.
Please tell me.My output is a sine wave and how do i do about my input.
Maybe you have a good thought ,and please tell me or teach me.

SFDR

I think the idea you have is correct.
You can get the input you want by using Verilog-A .

Re: SFDR

Dear zhhzl,
I don't know what is Verilog-A. Can you tell me detail.
How do I do? Can you suppose me reference information.
Thank you.

SFDR

you can extract the signals bu logic anlyzer, then use the sample point as input to MATLAB. it is easy to find a MATLAB script for checking SFDR on the web.

Good luck!

Re: SFDR

I know my output can be analyzed by matlab.
But I don't know produce my inputs.
I have 14 bits.
If my sine wave is 1KHz,what is my inputs of 14 bits?
Thanks.

Re: SFDR

The input depend on update speed of ur dac.
