You will need to know and work out the biasing for the transistor eg. the collector resistor value and what is the power supply voltage you will be using, also you will need to bias the base as well. Not to mention working out the value of the decoupling capacitor at the emitter, based on the lowest cutoff frequency you would like for your amplifier.
Try it on SPICE first and see how you go, you should be able to find some books in the forum on transistor amp.

don't worry. nobody knows everything. afterall I think you can find good and fast information in every textbook about fundamental electronics but remember a good reference is very important in learning. I recommend "Design of Analog Integrated Circuits" by Hurst, Gray, Lewis and Meyer. Each one of these guys is a genius, a God I should say, in Analog Electronics. after that, I think "Microelectronics" by Jaeger is another very good reference. Orcad® iis a very powerful simulator. you can check your ideas in it very fast.
