Thuraya Mobile ?

hi ,
i need to interface a Thuraya Mobile via serial port to send and receive sms messages , and i want to know what is the protocol the Thuraya Mobile use ?

are it like a normal gsm modem or what ?

if any body have any information about that please help :(
