I have built low power FM transmitter and I want to increase its broadcast distance .What should I add for the design?

Re: How to increase the broadcast distance for FM transmitte

My advice would be to look to the aerial and how you tune it . Depending on your FM frequency tune your aerial to it exactly match that wavelength. Use divitional factor for the length and a duel dipole will get you well over a mile from a 300 mw transmiter. ( on the commertial band !).

Re: How to increase the broadcast distance for FM transmitte

what is the frquency ?

In general:

- increase tx/rx antenna gain ( use multielemnt yagi if working VHF and above)*
- Increase antenna heights ( of both tx and rx) above ground
- Use more tx power ( it's an option but try more antenna gain first )
- Increase modulation bandwidth ( i.e. use greater carrier freqeuncy deviation)
- Avoid terraine man made obstructions

* applicable for point to point links as antennas need to be oriented for best gain.
Broadcast antennas are omnidirectional but with vertically stacked elements
for beam concentrarion at low angles to avoid waisted upward radiation.
