how to get log of 2 of an integer in vhdl ?

Hi,

I am using modelsim as a simulator. any one knows if there is a builtin function for log2. or a way to specify how to take log of 2.

Hi,
VHDL do not have log2 function builtin. Here is a doc about how to do it
in verilog. Please test this and convert the code into VHDL. If you have
any issue doing conversion let me know! I will help.
