hello sir
i want to drive a commonly available CFL (fluorescent lamp) of 15 watt by the means of a 6 volt 4.5 ah battery available in emergency lights . i searched it , but came to know about it only but couldn't find any circuit or unit . . .
All the available units are designed for 12 volts battery but my aim is drive it with 6 volts
please help me in designing it my own , is it possible or not please tell . . thanks
ohh kk thanks a lot . . transformer is okk but ehat about other circuitry ? how to generate desired sine wave ?
by 555 etc i.c.s or some other implantations we need ? please elaborate if possible
Is sine wave compulsory???? You can use square wave for the CFL. And it is easy to generate. Making sine waveform will be much complex and expensive...
ohh kk so how its possible for square to drive CFLs ? i mean u described about a 6v/230v transformer so is it find any use then ? please explaain what to design next & how . . thanks

i mean how can we design invertor of our own , please if possible would u hv me a block diag.
You have to find a transformer of 220v to (6v - 0v - 6v), center tap and of more than 15W. The 0v is the centre.
In this inverter, BC549 with the RC network are used to make a vibrator, i.e., the 50Hz pulse. 2N3055 are the power mosfet and should be connected with heat sink. If you can't find a particular transistor, you will get a substitute of it.
okk got it
but the link u provided here has a circuit diag.running on 12 volts & using related transformer too . so is that possible to replace battery source & transformer with desired one ? is dere any change in circuitry for that case ?
You can change the values of R2, R3, R6 & R7 to 120R or 130R. Its not so compulsory.
Batteries and transformer will be changed. Battery 6v, and transformer as mentioned.
hmm i see , k you mentioned transformer above 15W so how it matters for the total design ?
i mean if in case i am unable to get that or aomething happens , then what to do ?
Your CFL is of 15 Watt, so you need a transformer which can deliver the power more than 15W. Say the efficiency of the circuit & transformer is 70%(for safe operation). Then the wattage of transformer will be 18.75W or 20 watt in common values.
You can't use any lesser value, but any higher value can be used.
