Helllo,

I am trying to design a Clapp oscillator and a buffer amp using an MPF102 field effect transistor. The data sheets I am able to find on the internet do not have much info. There are no charactoristic curves or max drain current specs given. There is a zero gate voltage drain current spec, but I'm not sure how to determine a quiescent point from that. Does anyone know how I should approach this or where there might be a batter data sheet? The MPF102 is the only part that Radio Shack has that will work, but the nearest electronics supply that might have it is a good distance and I'd rather not pay the shipping to order a different type of FET.

Re: MPF102 FET question

Thank you for your reply, Brian. The data sheet on the link you posted, has basically the same info that the other ones have. Are there any that have the charactoristic curves such as Drain current vs Gate to source voltage, and such? I am not familiar with how to determine a quiescent current from the info on the data sheets I have seen so far.

Thank you,

George

Use basic ideal FET equations

MPF102 FET question

Hi,
these is the maximum what I have-maybe not more for you as the others...

Re: MPF102 FET question

Thanks FvM,

The equations enabled me to calculate the resister values to use based on the data in the data sheet. I guess I have forgotten a lot over the years , or maybe I learned a different way of doing it. I should have known those equations.

George
