how to design a 1KW solar power plant

dear all
i just want to know that for making a 1kw solar power plant how much solar panels of rating 12v 74w have to be connected.
what capacity of battery have to be used in AH?
please help me about it.
 

A solar array of roughly 13 or 14 solar panels of this rating is required but at 12 V this combination the power loss will be really large so plan on increasing the voltage to reduce the current to more suitable range
 

You have to work out what the sun is offering you in terms of watts/metre/hour/season then overlay this with the typical cloudynesss. This will then tell you the maximum solar energy available. Then figure out your load during the hours of sunshine and at night, to work out the amount of energy you have to store from day to night. The size of the battery relates to its prospective life, to ensure a long life it should be less then 10% cycled.

It will be wise to use a 24V (or higher) system.

If you stay with 12V then you must use thicker wiring to carry current from the PV panels, and to the inverter, etc. There will be greater loss of power because you are drawing high amps from the batteries.

As for the amount of batteries...

A crude calculation says a 12V, 200A-hr battery will deliver 1000 W for 2.4 hours. It will be less in real life.

That provides a starting point to calculate your needs.
 

for 5KW you have to use at least 50 V PV cells. If you go more then this you have to consider the safety side of things, 50V is SAFE. The trouble is its still 100A which means you must use thick wire.
I would use Google and see what then professionals do.

Usually for higher power ratings, voltage goes up to achieve power and to decrease currents. Can be 72V, 96V,..., even I saw ove 140V systems. Look to avoid higher currents.

For 1KW system can have voltage of 48V or up.

Number of solar panels is not only linked with electronics calculations, its also linked with geographic location, building-house location and nearbly objects like trees, buildings, house orientation and position, ... weather conditions, and solar insolation for some period in year.

Often people forget snow in winter, when he folldown on solar cells there is no power production, and who will clean that snow on every half hour. :smile:
