How to convert through hole components to SMD?

My components as follow:
1/4w resistor, NPN transistor, Capacitor, LEDs.

I'll like to convert it to SMD instead of through hole board. Anyone can help?

Thanks in advance.

Re: SMT PCB

hello,
which of CAD programm do you use? Is there a library with SMT components include?
Yes - use these, component packages are probably defined into schema...
No - you should download some SMT library for your CAD program or create it by yourself...

is there any way to get smd components code?

for example:
1/w4 470R,10k,220k resistor
3.3uf 50v e-cap
bc546b transistor

how to get the smd type?

Thanks mvs sarma,

any place where i can download some library for DXP2004?

The best thing to do is probably build by yourself a new one.

Re: SMT PCB

sorry guys i'm a newbie in electronic.
some of the component data sheet din't showing recommended pad so my question as follow:
1. how to get the correct solder pad for smd component.
2. or follow the component lead dimension?

thanks in advance.

For SMD , you won't get pad, you get the footprint of the smd component.
for example you can get sot23 as a three island set suitable for one transistor of sot23 style.
similarly you get 0605,0806, 1206 etc for mounting suitable resistor or capacitor of the concerned style and size.
Likewise ,so16, you get a 16 pin smd version DIP IC.

Re: SMT PCB

hi
for downloading protel dxp 2004 or higher

go to Emule or torrent

Re: SMT PCB

To do the porting just take also a look for power dissipation trough the resistor, 1206 package is able to 1/4 W, 0805 1/8 W and 0603 1/16 W.

First, have you got plans to buy a SMT placement machine ??

If your wanting this for mass production then you really need to be discussing plans for that first, that will take a lot of money & time.

As for your circuit, you need to get some component suppliers in to talk to, ask them to give quotes on replacements for the components you use (give them a list).

Get yourself stock SMT components that will be able to replace your PTH ones, check through your designs & replace the PTH components with the SMT ones, then check if the change from PTH to SMT will be cost effective.
Will the cost of the machine, labour, components & redesign of all boards be cost effective enough to make the change worth while?
If not - then it may be best not to do it.
