how to check single phase half bridge IC from component?

The well-known symbol for AC voltage. In this case designating the rectifier input side.

 

It is single phase bridge rectifier circuit. So you need to connect the stepped down AC at the symbol side and need to obtain the output from the side where + and - symbol is represented.
